Children of Paradise…Successful Parenting for Prosperous Families
Successful parents want to give their children the best of everything yet they are often sadly disappointed with the results as they witness young adults who are poorly motivated, irresponsible, financially demanding and troubled.  Parents are perplexed about how to deal with their success in order to be able to provide the right environment, opportunities and “coaching” so that their children will develop into emotionally healthy, competent, responsible adults.  Unfortunately children don’t come with detailed instruction manuals and so it is necessary for each family to develop their unique strategic plan to achieve their desired results.
Children of Paradise provides the audience with specific action plans  for dealing with these critical parenting challenges:
         Building Strong Self Esteem
         Establishing realistic expectations
         Creating competency and confidence
         Effective communication
         Managing parenting time and energy effectively
         Bratproofing
         Financial parenting
         Responsible wealth transfer strategies
Congratulations Warner Boys’ Softball Team
Congrats to the Warner boys’ softball team!  Out of the 450 schools who participated in the tournament Warner came in 3rd overall!!!

Special Screening of “Screenagers” – Wednesday, April 5th at 7pm in the Banooni Auditorium

We are thrilled to present SCREENAGERS: Growing Up in the Digital Age, a documentary about the biggest parenting issue of our time.
Are you watching kids scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that happening with her own kids and began a quest to uncover how it might impact their development. As with her other two award-winning documentaries on mental health, Ruston takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and also offers solutions on how adults can empower their kids to best navigate the digital world to find balance.

SCREENAGERS addresses the most pervasive parenting issue of our time head on-depicting teen struggles over social media, video games and internet addiction. The film empowers kids to best navigate the digital world and provides practical resources to help them do it.

Film time: One hour 6 minutes

Appropriate for adults and kids 10 and older (however, many parents bring kids younger than 10 and are happy they did.)

If YOU love science and want to get our kids hooked on scientific learning, then you want to be part of this year’s Warner Science Slam!  This year the Slam is the centerpiece of family activity for our 90th Anniversary – it’s “the Grand Slam”!!  If you want to host an exhibit from any field of scientific endeavor, or if you know this is the annual event where you can’t wait to volunteer, please contact silverton.sarah@gmail.com.   Event will be May 6 from 1-5 pm.

Warner STAR – Important Dates

Nova Enrichment Session #3 has come to an end.
Thank you for another opportunity to enrichment and share with your children after school!
Our final Nova Enrichment Session starts on Monday, March 27 and will end on Friday, May 26th.
If you didn’t get a chance to sign-up for classes, don’t fret, we have plenty of space in many of our classes and would love to sign your children up next week.
You can always drop off a form in our STAR box in the Main Office or see us in person from 10:00am – 6:00pm.

Free Zone Volunteers

Calling all parents of grades 1-5!
Come and tap into your inner-Picasso, as a volunteer at the Art/Free Zone tables, while enjoying the lovely children of Warner Avenue.  Enjoy an afternoon playing board games, directing an art activity, or just simply creating through writing, art and conversation. Your role can be as simple as a supervisor, or as demanding as a facilitator of your own project.

For further instruction, or questions, please contact either Paula Lewis at paulafmlewis@gmail.com or Sherry Lavian at sklavian@yahoo.com. We are happy to get you started with your first shift.

Please note, if you plan a project, it should take no longer than 10 minutes. The children are only at the tables for 15 mins max.

The Lost and Found is located outside the kindergarten yard. Please check regularly for your children’s lost items. Lunch boxes will will thrown out at the end of the day each Friday. Unclaimed clothing will be donated the first Monday of each month.
Warner What’s Happening Newsletter Submissions:
All newsletter submissions must be approved and emailed to warneravenews@gmail.com by 4:00 p.m. the Friday prior to the following week’s newsletter.  One day, my children will understand that when I say, “It’s your homework, not mine,” it really means, “I don’t understand your homework…”

On Wednesday, March 22, Holly Shuter will once again be taking extraordinary photos of your children here at school. Everyone who was lucky enough to get photos already couldn’t stop talking about how amazing they were.
It’s a great way to support your school and get awesome pictures of your kids.  All portrait orders will include an 8×10 photo print as well as your child’s photo being included in the yearbook.

The Lost and Found is located outside the kindergarten yard. Please check regularly for your children’s lost items. Lunch boxes will will thrown out at the end of the day each Friday. Unclaimed clothing will be donated the first Monday of each month.

All newsletter submissions must be approved and emailed to warneravenews@gmail.com by 4:00 p.m. the Friday prior to the following week’s newsletter.  I told the kids it’s March Madness, and they were confused.  It doesn’t explain Mommy’s behavior for the other eleven months…

Spring Auction Portraits
Attention Warner Families! For those of you who weren’t able to get your Spring Auction Photos the first time around, you are going to have one more chance!
On Wednesday, March 22, Holly Shuter will once again be taking extraordinary photos of your children here at school. Everyone who was lucky enough to get photos already couldn’t stop talking about how amazing they were.
It’s a great way to support your school and get awesome pictures of your kids.  All portrait orders will include an 8×10 photo print as well as your child’s photo being included in the yearbook.

Calling all parents of grades 1-5!
Come and tap into your inner-Picasso, as a volunteer at the Art/Free Zone tables, while enjoying the lovely children of Warner Avenue.  Enjoy an afternoon playing board games, directing an art activity, or just simply creating through writing, art and conversation. Your role can be as simple as a supervisor, or as demanding as a facilitator of your own project.

Amazing Auction Night

 
Thank you to all who came out to support our school on Saturday night!  The auction was a smashing success – what an amazing community we have!  A great time was had by all, and we raised much-needed funds for our school. Thanks to all who solicited donations, sponsored the event, donated to the auction and bid on items.
We give thanks to our awesome emcee Don Wyse and his great sense of humor.  We are also grateful for our amazing auctioneer Rolfe Auerbach.  Thank you to Holly Shuter for your beautiful portraits and Melissa Mitchell and Sandy Pirnazar for coordinating the Kindergarten Art Projects. Register Your Ralphs Card and Help Warner Earn Free Money
 
If you shop at Ralphs, we need you!   Only 50 Warner Families have signed up so far.  Ralphs will give a % of your purchases to the charity of your choice – like your child’s public school (hint, hint).  All you need to do is register your card and pick Warner as your charity.   The program requires re-registration each year from Sept 1 to Sept 1, so last year’s effort isn’t earning money for Warner now.  And, if you haven’t done it, it’s still worth doing!

Free Zone Volunteers

Calling all parents of grades 1-5!
Come and tap into your inner-Picasso, as a volunteer at the Art/Free Zone tables, while enjoying the lovely children of Warner Avenue.  Enjoy an afternoon playing board games, directing an art activity, or just simply creating through writing, art and conversation. Your role can be as simple as a supervisor, or as demanding as a facilitator of your own project.

For further instruction, or questions, please contact either Paula Lewis at paulafmlewis@gmail.com or Sherry Lavian at sklavian@yahoo.com. We are happy to get you started with your first shift.

Please note, if you plan a project, it should take no longer than 10 minutes. The children are only at the tables for 15 mins max.

Lost And Found
The Lost and Found is located outside the kindergarten yard. Please check regularly for your children’s lost items. Lunch boxes will will thrown out at the end of the day each Friday. Unclaimed clothing will be donated the first Monday of each month.
Warner What’s Happening Newsletter Submissions:
All newsletter submissions must be approved and emailed to warneravenews@gmail.com by 4:00 p.m. the Friday prior to the following week’s newsletter.  Congratulations to me!  I got the winning bid to get our family name on the second stall in the boy’s bathroom.  Boy, our kids are going to be so stoked!
