A Message from Principal Kamau

Warner Walk – Friday, April 27th

WARNER WALK 2018
“WALK THIS WAY”

Friday, April 27th
1:00 – 2:00 PM

SPONSOR THE WALK!
Your name will be posted in the Courtyard and your child will get WARNER WALK GEAR!
Sponsor forms are available outside the MAIN OFFICE or ON-LINE at https://warnerfundraising.org/warner-walk/
Please keep collecting pledges and turn in your Pledge Sheet
to your teacher in class by THIS WEDNESDAY!!
***And don’t forget to come by on Friday morning to chalk the sidewalk ***
in support of our kid…and stay to cheer them on!
Please remember the chalk messages are solely for the purpose of cheering on
your children, their classrooms, and our school.
ABSOLUTELY NO PROMOTION OF BUSINESSES IS ALLOWED!

We look forward to seeing you all at Assembly, and this time, please rap along!
I’m a helicopta’ matha’
That’s always undercover
And I talk ’til my kiddos say
Said you ain’t seen nothin’
Till you’re a WILDCAT lovin’
Student at Warner today.
Now our fearless leader
Ms. Kamau – you may have seen her
Workin’ hard for our happiness.
But the best things, love it
Are the teachers and our staff,
And we love to thank them all like this
LIKE THIS!
So the Warner Walk’s a-comin’
for our students and our staff
Let your feet fly up in the air
Grab a buddy or a friend and a water – we’ll supply it!
Buy your t-shirts and your Warner wear!
Bring your mommies and your daddies and your grannies and your grampies
Be a sponsor. Get your pledges to pay.
So go raise some money
Like a bee makes some honey
And we’ll tell you how to WALK THIS WAY
Thanks for your support!!

Warner Annual Fund
WARNER ANNUAL FUND IS AT 80%
Thank you to those families who have to date participated in and supported the Warner Annual Fund!* Your contributions have resulted in an 80% participation rate in the fund (with 6 classes at 100%!) and will help ensure that the enrichment programs and support services we’ve all come to expect at Warner will stay in place for the coming school year.

* It’s never too late to donate to the annual fund. We will be accepting donations through June 6, 2018

Calling All Scientists!
The Warner Science Slam is Sunday, May 20 from 11 am – 3 pm. We are looking for parents or other Warner family and friends who can demonstrate science experiments, and other age- appropriate scientific hands-on activities.  In the past, we have had presentations from science instructors, researchers and clinicians from USC, UCLA and JPL as well as teachers from neighboring elementary and middle schools, to name a few.
This is a great event to share your love of science with our warner community!
If you or any other Warner family and friends are interested in participating and/or want to learn more about what is involved in being a presenter, please contact Sarah Silverton at  silverton.sarah@gmail.com.
WAVE Meeting on Monday, May 7th

Mark your calendars!  The next WAVE Meeting will be Monday, May 7th after morning assembly.

At the May WAVE meeting, we will be voting on the proposed slate for the 2018-19 WAVE board which was presented by the nominating committee:
·       Co-President (joining Cynthia Wyse) – Cambrien Snyder (replacing Jeannine Sehati)
·       Co Vice-Presidents of Business & Finance – Tannaz Moin & Jeannine Sehati (replacing Nook Suphamongkhon)
·       Secretary – Robby King (replacing Kristin Grove)
·       Treasurer – Rose Krieger (replacing Lindsey Garg)
·       Director of Corporate Sponsorship – Naz Cohen (in second year of term)
·       Co-Directors of Fundraising – Dina Cohen (in second year of term) and Emily Klaparda (replacing Jessica Weisblum)
·       Director of Parent Relations – Molly Richardson (replacing Jeffrey Lustgarten)
·       Director of Administration – Roya Melamed (replacing Holly Shuter)
·       Director of Annual Fund – Jodi Fenton (in second year of term)
·       Director of School Drives – Sharon Monempour (replacing Sarah Silverton)
·       Director of Student Enrichment – Neda Rahimi (in second year of term)
·       Director of Community Relations – Ramin Medifar (replacing Michael Schlesinger)

Please note that this slate has been selected by the nominating committee.  Any Warner parent may now nominate another Warner parent for an open position (a position which is replacing a person that has completed his/her two year term).  In that case, both the person nominating someone and the nominated person must submit a written letter stating his/her interest in the position by April 27th to Cynthia Wyse or Jeannine Sehati.  An election will then take place at the next WAVE Meeting on May 7th presenting the Nominating Slate as well as any additional nominations which are submitted.
GOOOOOAL!
Congratulations to the Warner Avenue boys’ and girls’ soccer teams!

This weekend, the girls’ soccer team won two games and is advancing to the next stage.

The boys’ team won two games, tied in the third game and lost in penalties.

Party On With the Warner Party Book
