Dear Warner Families:
DOUBLE YOUR ANNUAL FUND DONATION WITH MATCHING FUNDS!

Corporate matching gift programs are a great way to double your gift to the Annual Fund. Many corporations match your generosity dollar for dollar. This is a free and easy way to make your contribution go further.
Please go to  https://www.1800runaway.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/corporate-match-directory.pdfto see a list of companies that offer matching programs for charitable contributions. While this list is extensive, if it doesn’t contain your company and you aren’t sure if you have a matching program available, please check with your HR department. That one call can do a lot to help support Warner.

  October Edition
Word of the Month
Fairness
Lesson Focus
Help students learn how to reframe their thinking when something feels unfair (i.e. acceptance, good reason and make it right).
Dinnertime Discussion
1.  Discuss three different ways to reframe a situation that feels unfair (i.e. acceptance, good reason, or make it right).
2.  Give an example of something you felt was unfair this week and identify how you might view it differently.

3.  Share how you can take an “unfair” situation on the school yard and make it right.

A Note from the School’s Office

The school’s office staff is requesting small children clothing for grades TK and kindergarten, sizes 5 and up.  They are requesting leggings, shorts, and underwear for boys and girls.

A big thanks in advance!

Warner Annual Fund Message

Dear Warner Families:
I hope you had a wonderful summer and have enjoyed the first few weeks of school! Welcome to the 2018-19 school year and the launch of the 2018-19 Warner Annual Fund drive.
The Annual Fund is Warner’s highest giving priority, as it bridges the gap between the basic, minimum funding provided to Warner by LAUSD and the essential 21st century resources, services, and equipment necessary to promote the highly successful learning environment at Warner Avenue School. Your contribution to the Annual Fund pays for, among other programs and enhancements, teaching assistants in each classroom and on the school yard, class size reduction teachers, writing and reading workshop programs, and helps ensure that computers, science, physical education, art, and music are deeply embedded in your child’s learning experience. It is because these programs and enhancements (among others) are paid for by the Annual Fund and not by LAUSD, that your donation to the Warner Annual Fund is so critical!
Please consider making your gift to the Annual Fund today, as each gift provides a direct and immediate benefit to our children! Contributions can be made via credit card or a check, and can be paid in full, or spread out over three, six, and nine-month installment plans. Donations are tax deductible and can be made by going to:
https://warnerfundraising.org/warner-annual-fund/
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support of our children, and best wishes for a wonderful school year!

Warner What’s Happening Newsletter Submissions:
All newsletter submissions must be approved and emailed to warneravenews@gmail.com by 4:00 p.m. the Friday prior to the following week’s newsletter.  A tip to all fathers:  Do not…do NOT…mockingly imitate the birth of your child to your wife on Labor Day.  I learned this from experience…

Due to Admissions Day, there were no delicious bagels for the faculty.  So instead, here’s a bagel fact:  old fashioned bagels took four people to prepare!  The same number of people it takes to make my kids do their homework.
If you would like to volunteer for Bagel Friday, please email Regina Adler at reginagor@gmail.com. Thank you!
