Dr. Gail Dines – Tuesday, February 19th
Join us in the Warner Auditorium for a special presentation on Tuesday, February 19th from 7pm – 8:30pm, by internationally acclaimed, Dr. Gail Dines, about our current health crisis and challenges of bringing up healthy kids in today’s digital culture saturated with porn and hyper-sexualized images. She will discuss how parents and educators can help build resilience and resistance in kids to porn culture. You don’t want to miss this!  $20 per person.  More ticket information to come.

The Warner Annual Fund is now at 55% participation. Which class will be the first to make it to 100% participation? Is it Ms. Chan’s class, which is currently at 80%? Or Ms. Unal’s which is currently at 78%?
If you have not yet made your donation, help your class out and do so online today at https://warnerfundraising.org/warner-annual-fund/.  If you can’t give the suggested amount, give what you can.  Every dollar matters.

WAVE has purchased a subscription to this
award-winning online resource, providing content-rich videos
and activities in every subject!
BrainPop covers topics within Science, Math, Social Studies, English Language Arts, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Music, Health, Reading, and Writing. The content is carefully mapped to the Common Core, aligned to academic standards, and searchable with the online Standards Tool.
Hundreds of topics are all brought to life through short, animated movies and related interactive quizzes, timelines, charts, writing/vocabulary activities, graphic organizers, and much more.
We have access to two programs-BrainPop (upper grades) and BrainPop Jr. (lower grades).  Each has its own website:

The Nova #3 Enrichment Session Starts 
on Monday, January 28th!
 
We still have space available in many of our classes.
If you didn’t get a chance to sign up last week,
we will continue to take class registrations until Friday, February 1st. 
 
You can find brochures in the Main hallway, the STAR office 
or the attachment below.
 
For those who have already signed up
 Class confirmations will be sent sometime between 
Friday, Jan. 25th and Sunday, Jan. 27th
 
*Parents (1st – 5th), please remind your children daily when they have 
STAR classes to meet at the lunch benches after school.
 
Tk’s & Kinder’s will be picked up from their classrooms
by STAR teachers.

The Lost and Found is located outside the kindergarten yard. Please check regularly for your children’s lost items. Lunch boxes will will thrown out at the end of the day each Friday. Unclaimed clothing will be donated the third Tuesday of each month.

All newsletter submissions must be approved and emailed to warneravenews@gmail.com by 4:00 p.m. the Friday prior to the following week’s newsletter.  Without a doubt, I’d have to say the people who are happiest that the strike is over are…my co-workers.  If they saw my kids at work raid craft service one more time, there would be an ugly TMZ headline in the near future…
