Ruminations About Culmination

Attention 5th grade parents!  Culmination 2018 is here!

Save the date:  June 6th, 2018 at 9am.
Free Book Swap
It’s time for the very last free BOOK SWAP!
**Last week of school – every afternoon**
What to do:
1.  Clean out books you’ve finished and no longer want.
2.  Bring them to school.
          Readable condition, please.
We always need more upper grade books.
3.  We’ll put all the swap books out every afternoon.  Find something you want to read and take it home — for FREE!
YES, everyone is welcome.  You do NOT have to bring a book to take a book…but the more books, the more kids, the better it works.
Please be considerate and don’t hog books (until the very last day).
Leftovers will be donated to charity.
That’s it!  See you at the swap!

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream…Thank you!

A big thank you to the following people who helped out with selling ice cream on Fridays:

Warner Annual Fund
WARNER ANNUAL FUND IS AT 80%
Thank you to those families who have to date participated in and supported the Warner Annual Fund!* Your contributions have resulted in an 80% participation rate in the fund (with 6 classes at 100%!) and will help ensure that the enrichment programs and support services we’ve all come to expect at Warner will stay in place for the coming school year.

* It’s never too late to donate to the annual fund. We will be accepting donations through June 6, 2018

Calling All Scientists!
The Warner Science Slam is Sunday, May 20 from 11 am – 3 pm. We are looking for parents or other Warner family and friends who can demonstrate science experiments, and other age- appropriate scientific hands-on activities.  In the past, we have had presentations from science instructors, researchers and clinicians from USC, UCLA and JPL as well as teachers from neighboring elementary and middle schools, to name a few.
This is a great event to share your love of science with our warner community!
If you or any other Warner family and friends are interested in participating and/or want to learn more about what is involved in being a presenter, please contact Sarah Silverton at  silverton.sarah@gmail.com.
WAVE Meeting on Monday, May 7th

Mark your calendars!  The next WAVE Meeting will be Monday, May 7th after morning assembly.

At the May WAVE meeting, we will be voting on the proposed slate for the 2018-19 WAVE board which was presented by the nominating committee:
·       Co-President (joining Cynthia Wyse) – Cambrien Snyder (replacing Jeannine Sehati)
·       Co Vice-Presidents of Business & Finance – Tannaz Moin & Jeannine Sehati (replacing Nook Suphamongkhon)
·       Secretary – Robby King (replacing Kristin Grove)
·       Treasurer – Rose Krieger (replacing Lindsey Garg)
·       Director of Corporate Sponsorship – Naz Cohen (in second year of term)
·       Co-Directors of Fundraising – Dina Cohen (in second year of term) and Emily Klaparda (replacing Jessica Weisblum)
·       Director of Parent Relations – Molly Richardson (replacing Jeffrey Lustgarten)
·       Director of Administration – Roya Melamed (replacing Holly Shuter)
·       Director of Annual Fund – Jodi Fenton (in second year of term)
·       Director of School Drives – Sharon Monempour (replacing Sarah Silverton)
·       Director of Student Enrichment – Neda Rahimi (in second year of term)
·       Director of Community Relations – Ramin Medifar (replacing Michael Schlesinger)

Please note that this slate has been selected by the nominating committee.  Any Warner parent may now nominate another Warner parent for an open position (a position which is replacing a person that has completed his/her two year term).  In that case, both the person nominating someone and the nominated person must submit a written letter stating his/her interest in the position by April 27th to Cynthia Wyse or Jeannine Sehati.  An election will then take place at the next WAVE Meeting on May 7th presenting the Nominating Slate as well as any additional nominations which are submitted.

Warner Auction Gala Solicitation

Warner Families – It’s never too early to do your part to help make this year’s Auction Gala the best it’s ever been!  We are seeking donations for our world class auction, specifically in the form of certificates for travel, restaurants, sporting events, concerts, kids’ activities and other entertainment.  Copies of the solicitation form are located outside the Main Office.  We suggest keeping them in your car and in your purse, so you have them handy when at dinner, are away for Thanksgiving or winter break, or at one of your children’s extracurricular activities.
Please CLICK HERE for the solicitation letter and form.
