WAVE Meeting on Monday, May 7th

Mark your calendars!  The next WAVE Meeting will be Monday, May 7th after morning assembly.

At the May WAVE meeting, we will be voting on the proposed slate for the 2018-19 WAVE board which was presented by the nominating committee:
·       Co-President (joining Cynthia Wyse) – Cambrien Snyder (replacing Jeannine Sehati)
·       Co Vice-Presidents of Business & Finance – Tannaz Moin & Jeannine Sehati (replacing Nook Suphamongkhon)
·       Secretary – Robby King (replacing Kristin Grove)
·       Treasurer – Rose Krieger (replacing Lindsey Garg)
·       Director of Corporate Sponsorship – Naz Cohen (in second year of term)
·       Co-Directors of Fundraising – Dina Cohen (in second year of term) and Emily Klaparda (replacing Jessica Weisblum)
·       Director of Parent Relations – Molly Richardson (replacing Jeffrey Lustgarten)
·       Director of Administration – Roya Melamed (replacing Holly Shuter)
·       Director of Annual Fund – Jodi Fenton (in second year of term)
·       Director of School Drives – Sharon Monempour (replacing Sarah Silverton)
·       Director of Student Enrichment – Neda Rahimi (in second year of term)

Please note that this slate has been selected by the nominating committee.  Any Warner parent may now nominate another Warner parent for an open position (a position which is replacing a person that has completed his/her two year term).  In that case, both the person nominating someone and the nominated person must submit a written letter stating his/her interest in the position by April 27th to Cynthia Wyse or Jeannine Sehati.  An election will then take place at the next WAVE Meeting on May 7th presenting the Nominating Slate as well as any additional nominations which are submitted.

Calling All Scientists!
The Warner Science Slam is Sunday, May 20 from 11 am – 3 pm. We are looking for parents or other Warner family and friends who can demonstrate science experiments, and other age- appropriate scientific hands-on activities.  In the past, we have had presentations from science instructors, researchers and clinicians from USC, UCLA and JPL as well as teachers from neighboring elementary and middle schools, to name a few.
This is a great event to share your love of science with our warner community!
If you or any other Warner family and friends are interested in participating and/or want to learn more about what is involved in being a presenter, please contact Sarah Silverton at  silverton.sarah@gmail.com.

The “Aqua Ducks” competed in the Spring Showdown at Legoland, CA
on Sunday, April 29th.
FIRST LEGO League is an exciting, team-based robotics competition in which students design, build,
and program robots to solve a variety of challenges. This year’s theme was WATER!
Each team mapped out a solution to a problem and brought it to life with a spectacular robotic creation!
The Showdown also focuses on teamwork, positive discovery and sportsmanship.
