Volunteer for the Car Pool Lane
Parking around Warner is next-to-impossible around drop-off time. In an effort to relieve the pressure, we have two drop-off lanes—one each on Holmby Ave and Warner Ave. Each classroom will be assigned one or two weeks during the school year to provide parent volunteers to staff these lanes. Thank you in advance.
Drop Off/Pick Up Rules
At Warner, the safety of our children is everyone's concern and everyone's responsibility.
In an effort to keep your children and your family members safe, we are asking you to please remember the traffic rules.
If your child is dropped off/picked up by a nanny, grandparent, or cousin, please review these rules with them.
Please choose safety over convenience.
Whenever possible, carpool—or, even better, walk.
Leave extra time to park legally and, if necessary, park a block or two away.
Above all, please demonstrate patience, courtesy, and common sense.
Car Pool Rules
General Safety Rules
Thanks to the participation of our wonderful families, we have two valet drop-off lanes that alleviate some of our traffic problems...but only when we follow the rules. Here they are:
- For drop off, park legally and walk your child in or use the car pool line on Warner Avenue or Holmby Avenue.
- Please try to arrive before 8:10 am.
- Don’t let your children out until your reach the front of the line or are directed to do so by a volunteer
- Remain in your car. Volunteers will help your child.
- Keep backpacks in the car (not in the trunk). This slows down the car pool lane.
- Use caution when pulling out of the lane into traffic.
- No u-turns from the car pool lane
- Come early and you won’t have to wait. If you come at the bell, be prepared to wait.
- The rules of the car drop-off lane apply to everybody, no matter what kind of car you drive
- Stay off your cellphones
- Be nice to your fellow parent volunteers
- Make sure to volunteer when it is your classes' turn
- DO NOT park and leave your vehicle unattended at the drop-off/pick-up zones in front of the school!
- Cross your children at the corner (crosswalks). Do not cross mid-block. Jay-walking is illegal and very dangerous.
- Do not make U-turns in intersections, in front of or around the school. (That includes 3-point turns in neighbors' driveways.)
- Do not block, stop or park in our neighbor's driveways, even for "a minute."
- Come to a full stop at the stop signs every time.
- Do not stop to let your children out in a red zone... that means on the corners, too.
- Do not stop or drive in to the teachers' parking lot or driveway. It's dangerous.
- Do not Double Park and let your child out. This forces them to walk between cars.
- Exit your child directly onto the sidewalk. Not on the street side of the car.
- DO abide by parking signs and traffic rules.
- DO respect our neighbors.
- DO NOT cross between traffic!
- DO NOT text and drive.
- Don’t talk on your cell phone while driving or crossing the street.
- DO drive with care and concern for our students and families.
- Don’t park in the drop-off lanes on Holmby and Warner.
- Do not block our neighbors’ driveways or knock over their trash cans. They have and will call the police.
- Never, ever park in the No Parking Zone in front of the school. Not even for a minute. We love you and appreciate all you do, but you will be towed.
